The Massachusetts State House in Boston is the State Capitol of Massachusetts.

Free Massachusetts State House tours are provided:

Monday- Friday from 10:00 am to 3:30 pm

Tours
take about 45 minutes and include the history and architecture of the State Capitol.

The Massachusetts State House building is open from 8:45 am to 5 pm.

The Massachusetts State House is closed on weekends and holidays.

Visitors can see the House and Senate Chambers, learn about the Ladybug (Massachusetts’s state insect) and of the “Sacred Cod”.

Advance reservations are requested for conducted tours at Massachusetts State House.

Please call 617-727-3676 to arrange for a tour for groups of one to fifty people.

Tours for groups of ten or more should be scheduled at least three weeks in advance.

Reservations are only accepted by phone.

Self-guided materials are available if visitors do not wish to join a conducted tour.

Legislative process tours are available by prior arrangement.

Getting to Massachusetts State House in Boston

By T (Subway) to Massachusetts State House in Boston:

- Take T  Green line C, D, or E train Or T Red Line

- Exit at Park St. station

- Walk to State House located at the corner of Beacon and Park Streets. 

Visitors should enter the General Hooker entrance which is just to the right of the main gate.

Then follow signs to The State House Tours & Information Desk located in Doric Hall on the second floor.

Massachusetts State House Visitors should check-in for guided tours or other information.

Handicap entrances are located at Ashburton Park for Massachusetts State House in Boston.
