The central feature of the New England Aquarium is the four-story, 200,000-gallon Giant Ocean Tank (GOT).   

In this Boston Aquarium, On Level 1, you will find the Shark & Ray Touch Tank, Marine Mammal Center, Penguins, and Jellies Exhibit.

On Level 2, you will find the Temperate Water Gallery with the Sea Dragon Exhibit in this famous Boston Aquarium.

On Level 3, you will find Freshwater Gallery, Edge of the Sea Tidepool, Northern Waters Gallery, including a Green Anaconda and Giant Octopus.

On Level 4, you will find the Yawkey Coral Reef Center, Giant Ocean Tank, where you can see the Giant Green Sea Turtle.

Getting to New England Aquarium in Boston

By Boston "T" (Subway/Train) to New England Aquarium:

Blue Line T:

- Take the Blue Line inbound to the Aquarium station and walk toward the water (less than 5 minutes).  

  If needed, transfer to Blue line as all other subway lines connect to the Blue Line.

  Blue Line T has the closest Stop for this Boston Aquarium.

Orange Line T: 

- If taking the Orange Line T, then get off at State station

- Walk towards the water and walk about 10 minutes to reach New England Aquarium Boston

Green Line T:

- If taking the Greenline T, then get off at Government Center station

- Walkabout 10-minutes on State Street to reach New England Aquarium Boston

Red Line T:

- If taking the Red Line T, then exit on the South Station stop

- Walk 15-minutes on Atlantic Avenue (North-East) and turn right in Milk St to reach New England Aquarium in Boston

Tips for visiting New England Aquarium in Boston:

- Visit to New England Aquarium Boston can take as little as an hour or more, depending on your interest.  

- You can combine a visit to this Boston Aquarium with

   - Boston Tea Party Ships and Museum,

   - Greenway Carousel at The Tiffany & Co. Foundation Grove,

   - USS Constitution Museum, and

   - Institute of Contemporary Art

- Pack a picnic lunch and water.  There are picnic tables available in the Aquarium Cafe.
 
- Avoid peak times.  Go early when they open at 9 am to get the best view of Myrtle the Green Sea turtle.

- Boston Waterfront is about 40 miles along the Boston harbor with eclectic neighborhoods which have

   - a walkway (Harbor Walk ) along the water,

   - museums,

   - parks, shops, hotels, boating, food truck (Greenway), and restaurants.  

-  There are two sections of the Waterfront in Boston. The Bass River separates the sections.    

   The older section is located near Downtown Boston.  Some attractions in the area include:

   • Commuter and tour boats (a ferry ride from Long Wharf takes you to Georges or Spectacle Island. Georges is home to a Civil War-era fort)

   • New England Aquarium

   • Christopher Columbus Waterfront Park
 
    The newer waterfront is located near South Boston.  Some attractions in the area include:

    • Fan Pier Park

    • Children's Museum

    • World Trade Center

The area near the Aquarium is a major tourist center for the Duck Tours,  Trolley Hop on Hop off tours, and cruises.
