Fukuoka - Tochoji Temple - Travel Guide

This famous Tochoji Temple is located in Hakata-Ku and is the head temple and headquarters of Shingon Buddhism Kyushu sect.

It is dedicated to a famous monk called Kobo-Daishi (Kukai).

Other than main temple it is famous for a 10.8 meters wooden Buddha and a pagoda in the complex.

Take Subway to “Gion” station
Follow exit signs inside station
Infront of Gion Station exit

Recommendations

• Combine visit to Kushida-jinja with Tochoji Temple. They are located 5 minutes apart by walk.

• This is an active temple and many people come to pray so please be respectful when visiting.
