Lotus Pond (Lian Lake), Kaohsiung, Taiwan - Helpful Travel Information for Visitors


Lotus Pond, also is known as Lian lake, is a man-made lake located on the east side of the Zuoying District of Kaohsiung city.

Lotus Pond is famous for its numerous temples around the lake like the Confucius temple, God Temple, Jhenfu Temple, Cheng Huang Temple, and Cingshuei Temple.

Other attractions include multiple pavilions like:

- the Spring and Autumn Pavilions (春秋閣),

- the Dragon and Tiger Pagodas (龍虎塔), and

- various palaces and gardens like the Chi Ming palace.

All Lian Lake Kaohsiung attractions are on a 1.2 Km stretch of Liantan Road along the Lake.

You will also find many fruit stalls and markets around this Lotus Pond Kaohsiung area.

Getting There

Lotus Pond by MRT and Bus combo in Kaohsiung :

- Take the Kaohsiung MRT Red-line to R15 Ecological District Station

- Exit at Ecological District Station and take Exit 2.

- Walk toward the bus stop on your right-hand side (or take a taxi to Lotus Pond Dragon and Tiger Pagoda)

- Take bus 51 or bus 35. (10-15 minutes ride and you will see the Lotus Pond from the bus)

- Exit off the bus, you will see the Shoushan National Nature Park sign. (For Return cross the street)

 Recommendation

• Lotus Pond area can take three or more hours depending on your interest.

• Start from one end of Lotus Pond aka Lian lake on Liantan Road and end at the other end (1.2 Km stretch).

• Wear your good walking shoes if you plan to walk around the whole lake.

• Avoid Sunday as many of the Temples/museums are closed.

• Take snacks and water with you, especially if you have young children.
