Getting to Griffith Park and observatory in LA |
By Car to Griffith Park and observatory : - From SR 134 eastbound get off Forest Lawn Drive or Victory Blvd - From SR 134 westbound get off on Zoo Drive or Forest Lawn Drive - Follow the signs into the park. - Visitors can drive to the Observatory via the Vermont or Fern Dell entrances of Griffith Park. - The Fern Dell closes at sunset. - The LADOT operates weekend public bus service from the Vermont/Sunset Metro Red Line station to the Observatory. - The LADOT Observatory Shuttle operates from 10:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. - The Bus fare is 50 cents, 25 cents for seniors and persons with disabilities, and free for small children (4 and under). - Griffith Park and observatory is free and a must-do in Los Angeles. - If you only plan on taking pictures of the cityscape and the Hollywood sign, plan for an hour. - Go around dawn or evening for spectacular views of LA’s city lights and the Hollywood sign. - It is least busy before 11 AM, however, Observatory opens at 12 noon from Tue-Fri. - Take some snacks and always carry water with you. - Parking and traffic can be cumbersome. Take a bus if possible. It is much easier and economical. |
