A few blocks west is Palisades Park, Santa Monica Beach, and the Santa Monica Pier.

You have great views of the ocean and beach from the park and pier.

These pedestrian-only areas are great for people watching, shopping, eating, and street performers.

The Pier has a carnival like games & rides and access to the sandy beach.

Getting There

 

From Downtown LA :

By Car to Santa Monica :

- West 10 Freeway (aka Santa Monica Freeway).

- Exit at 4th Street/5th Street. Follow signs to 5th Street.

- Turn left on Arizona Avenue and go three blocks.

Paid Parking for Santa Monica Pier and Promenade is available at :

- the Pier Parking Deck, or

- Public Parking Garage on 2nd and 4the street, or

- the 3rd street Promenade Parking structure


By Bus to Santa Monica :

- Take 720 Metro Rapid Bus going to Santa Monica from any bus stop on Wilshire Blvd.

- Get off on Third Street Promenade stop.

By Starline Hop-on Hop-off Bus to Sana Monica :

- Take the Yellow Route to Santa Monica

The Yellow route is included in the Go LA Card by Smart Destinations.

If you are going to multiple attractions in the LA area then Hop-on Hop-Off Bus is a good option.

 

Recommendations

 

- Plan on spending the whole day. Spend time walking around the promenade and pier.
  Enjoy people watching, swimming at the beach, going on a carnival ride, and/ or shopping at the promenade.

Tip: Pick up food and drink from a nearby supermarket and have a picnic on the beach or park.

- Remember to Wear flip flops, put on sunscreen, and bring a towel if you intend on going to the beach.

- The cost of parking and traffic can be cumbersome. Take a bus if possible.

- Park in the mall or approved parking to avoid parking tickets and meters.
